Amera is not trying to replace every claims system. Its public story is narrower and more useful than that.

## What it does

Amera says it standardizes claims data from PDFs, bills, receipts, EDI, and other non-standard submissions, then plugs structured data into the systems health plans already use ([YC profile](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/amera)). Its [About page](https://www.amerahealthsolutions.com/about) calls this a data layer for self-funded health plans and claims operations.

The problem is operational fragmentation. Amera’s [About page](https://www.amerahealthsolutions.com/about) says claims can move through 10 to 15 disconnected systems, with manual reconstruction when the input is an itemized bill or receipt. The company’s stated first job is intake and normalization, not replacing adjudication or every downstream system.
